Just a wonderfully windy day in the neighborhood - July 20th FT match

By kevin y

We held our monthly FT match last Sunday, it was a wonderfully windy day in the neighborhood just right for frustrating folks in the FT mindset. Normally, i think up devious ways to confound and befuddle the folks all month long. This month was no exception, there is a strange type of satisfaction when i hear the guys whining about a particlar shot. I had big plans for a few targets - up high on the ramparts with itty bitty killzones, 3/8" targets at 25 yards stuffed in tunnels and the like but with the scirrocco parked over the range i "wussed out" and gave them a break. I figured the scores would probably drop all by themselves without me increasing the Troyer rating, and they did. We had all the usual suspects in attendance, the Boys from Sac made it down, The Crew from Santa Cruz added a new shooter and a few Juniors stopped by also. The course was a little different today in that there were more targets at distance, more targets were up high in the wind, and some of the smaller kz's were moved around a bit.; Though i think he course was actually about the same in difficulty level. We were suppose to have 48 shots, we had a malfunctioning target (no one tied a string to it) so i added 2 to everyones score. The first great surprise of the day goes to Lonnie S for taking PCP class and TopGun honors with a 43 out of 48. With the wind howling and him working with a Junior, Lonnie came out of nowhere to put the smack down on the field. Lonnie just started up with us last year and has been steadly increasing his skill level. I think it finally all came together this sunday and he looks as though he's done messing with his gear and now he's on to tearing up the course. In Puffer class Tony I (Trojan1994) took second with a very good 38 followed by Paul with 35.

We've always had more springer guys than pcp guys for some reason out here, and this week we had +10 shooters. Stalwarts Doug B, Pat J and Myself anchored the spring class and tried to provide guidance for the newer spring guys. Usaully us spring guys can hang with them sissy pcp guns but not this week. Top score in springer was 39, Pat J got second with a 35 and Doug B knocked down 28.

In Junior class the Amazing Ryllie shooting a pcp knocked em dead again with 26 (dad shot a 11) and Caitlynn scored an impressive 16.
